We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Hanno Pretorius as the new Editor of the SAJR
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Hanno Pretorius as the new Editor of the South African Journal of Radiology (SAJR), effective 1 August 2026.Hanno is a Diagnostic Radiologist in private practice at Netcare Pretoria East Hospital, with special interests in MRI, neuroradiology, spinal and musculoskeletal imaging, and emergency and trauma radiology, and is actively involved in postgraduate education.We would also like to express our sincere appreciation to Dr Maya Patel, who has served as Editor of the SAJR since 2016. Under Maya’s leadership, the Journal has gone from strength to strength and achieved the high standing it enjoys today. We thank her for her tremendous commitment, hard work and contribution to the continued development and success of the publication.We are particularly grateful that Maya has kindly agreed to continue supporting the Journal during a handover period until the end of December 2026, helping to ensure a smooth transition and continuity for the publication.We warmly welcome Hanno to his new role and look forward to the next chapter for the SAJR under his editorial leadership. RSSA CT | MR Cardiac Imaging Congress 2027
It is a great pleasure and privilege to announce the RSSA Cardiac Imaging Course 2027.This hands-on, interactive teaching course will be led by internationally renowned thoracic and cardiac radiologists - Dr Rami Neemtallah, Dr Hildo Lamb, and Dr Jesse Habets, together with local radiologists Prof Leonie Scholtz, Dr Vijay Dahya, and Dr Andre du Plessis.A course of this nature is particularly important for South African radiologists. Cardiac imaging is a complex and rapidly evolving subspecialty,requiring a detailed understanding of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and the specific requirements of referring cardiologists.The course is aimed at radiologists with intermediate to advanced knowledge and skills, but will also be highly relevant to generalist and subspecialist radiologists. It will provide a practical approach to cardiac CT and MRI, covering common pathologies and potential pitfalls.
