We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Hanno Pretorius as the new Editor of the South African Journal of Radiology (SAJR), effective 1 August 2026.
Hanno is a Diagnostic Radiologist in private practice at Netcare Pretoria East Hospital, with special interests in MRI, neuroradiology, spinal and musculoskeletal imaging, and emergency and trauma radiology, and is actively involved in postgraduate education.
We would also like to express our sincere appreciation to Dr Maya Patel, who has served as Editor of the SAJR since 2016. Under Maya’s leadership, the Journal has gone from strength to strength and achieved the high standing it enjoys today. We thank her for her tremendous commitment, hard work and contribution to the continued development and success of the publication.
We are particularly grateful that Maya has kindly agreed to continue supporting the Journal during a handover period until the end of December 2026, helping to ensure a smooth transition and continuity for the publication.
We warmly welcome Hanno to his new role and look forward to the next chapter for the SAJR under his editorial leadership. We are excited about the future of the Journal and its continued growth and development within the radiology community.
